I would probably end up sleeping on the floor. With half a sandwich on my face.

Here’s the an inspiration for my new project. I read this great quote today, this designer said that people are starting to be drawn to little cozy spaces, versus huge sprawling rooms because it’s easier to relax in… and you don’t have to fill it with furniture (or spend 2 hours trying to find your keys?). Very true in my case! I much prefer the coziness, or (on the other end of the spectrum) a huge ass space with like, a chair and a vase and a twig.

heartbreakponytails, a fellow coffee table hater, sent me a picture of her gorgeous studio! Here are more pics.
The furniture is almost all IKEA (except for my great grandma’s cedar chest and a vintage chair) with accents from Etsy, thrift stores and my travels. oh, and two rugs that my mom shipped from Egypt cause she’s awesome.

Having lived in NYC I have such an appreciation for small spaces and functional design. What stresses me out the most with NYC studio living (besides RENT) is that when you have guests come over they immediately use your bed as a couch, which is so freaking gross because they are sitting on the subways where homeless people have passed out and/or peed and where college kids have barfed and/or peed (guilty as charged). So they have all these germs on their butts and they sit on your bed where you put your FACE! SICK!!!
But I digress…. when you live in a studio you have to think of creative ways of splitting up your hanging out area and your sleeping area. Removable walls (I think cost about $300 to install) are a great idea for the long term, or drapes are good for the short term rentals.
